We were delighted and extremely proud of our success in this year's 'In Bloom' competition.  Following on from our Gold Award in 2012, we were presented with an amazing THREE awards at this year's award ceremony, held at York Racecourse on 17 September.

Award 1 – Yorkshire Rose Gold Award AND Best in Category Winner (Large Business Category)
The judging panel commented that the station surroundings were 'charming' and 'colourful' and 'a delight to visit'.   Our volunteers' dedication and commitment was described as exceptional.

Award 2– Yorkshire Rose Award for Environmental Quality
The Group's work on environmental issues was described as 'excellent' – from our organic composting to the water collection (installed by 'Friends' volunteers) using recycled materials, in keeping with the architecture of the building.

Award 3 – Yorkshire Rose Award for Community
Our engagement with the Bronte Society to research our Bronte Garden so that we could identify plants that were mentioned in the Bronte novels was credited, along with the involvement of Bolton Brow Primary Academy for their paintings of the flowers that will be grown in the Bronte Garden.

And it wouldn't have been possible without....
•  All the 'Friends' volunteers who dedicate their time every other weekend to maintain and improve the station surroundings.
•  Our Community Partners who have provided continued support through grants and donations which have enabled us to implement the Bronte Garden feature.
•  The growing number of local businesses who support us by sponsoring the station's planters and flower boxes.
• The enthusiasm of the students of Bolton Brow Primary Academy who rose to the challenge in the poster painting competition.  Congratulations to Eloise Stone who won 1st prize; Emily Madden for 2nd and Elle-May Shields who took 3rd place.
A big THANK YOU to you all.
