The Friends of Sowerby Bridge Railway Station are holding a weekend event over 3/4/5 October 2015 to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the railway coming to Sowerby Bridge and extend an open invitation to anyone who would like to come along and join in.

The Group has also invited a number of local schools and youth groups to take part in a painting/poster competition, focussing on the railway/transport that would have been around in Sowerby Bridge in 1840. These paintings/posters will be on display over the Saturday/Sunday. Each entrant will receive a souvenir gift and prizes will be awarded, with one of the winning entries being selected for a Northern Rail poster.

How to enter: Entrants must be aged 18 or below and can be part of a school/youth group submission as well as an individual entry. Maximum size A3 please and the name of the artist along with contact details for parent/guardian to be included on the reverse. Entries need to be handed in at the Jubilee Refreshment Rooms (at the station) by 2nd October so that they can be displayed on 3rd and 4th for viewing. Judging will take place on Monday 5th and the winner notified within 7 days. For more information please contact Chris on 07850 822590.
